Some are obvious. Some will surprise you.

In Florida's climate — salt air, intense UV, humidity, and annual hurricane season — windows age faster than almost anywhere else in the country. Here are eight signs that your windows are telling you it's time.
If you see fogging or moisture between the two panes of glass, the seal has failed. The insulating gas (usually argon) has escaped, and your window is now performing at single-pane efficiency. This cannot be repaired — the unit needs to be replaced.
Hold your hand near the frame on a windy day. A noticeable draft means air is infiltrating around the frame — which means rain can too. It also means your AC is working harder than it needs to.
If your FPL bill has been creeping up year over year and you haven't added major appliances or changed your habits, your windows and doors are likely a contributing factor. Old glass transfers heat; new Low-E impact glass reflects it.
Windows that stick, are hard to lock, or won't stay open are a safety and security issue — not just an annoyance. In an emergency, you need to be able to open (or close) your windows quickly.
Warping, cracking, soft spots (in wood frames), or corrosion (in old aluminum) mean the frame is no longer doing its job structurally. A damaged frame can't properly hold the glass or seal the opening.
Modern impact glass provides significant sound dampening. If you can hold a normal conversation from across the street, your current windows aren't doing much acoustically — and they're probably not doing much thermally either.
If your home has older single-pane or non-impact double-pane windows, you're not in compliance with current Florida Building Code for your wind zone, and you're relying on shutters (or luck) every hurricane season.
If you're renting a storage unit for panel shutters, or paying for annual accordion shutter maintenance, that recurring cost could be redirected toward windows that eliminate the need for shutters entirely.
If two or more of these apply to your home, it's worth having a professional take a look. We offer free assessments with no obligation and no sales pressure — just an honest evaluation.
